This week we had some very sad news - Rose Howard who has taught a Baltimore class at The Cloth Shop for the last eight years - died on Tuesday morning.
On the last Sunday of the month we have had a class called "Baltimore with Rose - Rose Howard travelled from Wellington and arrived at The Cloth Shop with an enormous suitcase full of patterns, quilts, samples and for the next five hours everyone stitched, talked.laughed and learnt new stitches and techniqes. Rose loved Colin's lunches and she always hoped that he would bring her favourite - coconut ice. Rose told me she loved coming to The Cloth Shop and she loved the women who came to her class - some have come every year for the last eight years. We were shocked in March when Rose told us she couldn't come back because she had cancer.
Everyone involved with the Baltimore Class has decided to carry on - the experienced ones will help the new ones - so even though Rose won't be with us we will talk of her often and remember her with love
Rest in Peace Rose xx.
Prize winning quilt with a humourous twist!
The Cloth Shop sponsored Tote and Gloat by donating a beautiful Husqvarna Sewing machine - in our last What's Hot letter we showed you a photo of Nola Slack who was thrilled to be the winner and take the machine home with her. The Rose City Quilt Club - who run Tote and Gloat - invited us to chose a quilt in the club challenge to win the "Sponsers Prize" - this year it was won by Caroline Noaro with her humourous quilt featurng a penguin nurse looking after two injured penguins - there is baby penguin playing with the stones on the shore of the bay - it tells a great little story and it's fun! This quilt also won the prize for the Most Humorous Quilt.
Congratulations Caroline!!
