What's Hot from the Cloth Shop

As I write this there are two little girls aged about ten in the shop - they are dressed in their leotards ( we have a dance studio next door) and they are looking at the fabrics.They have been flitting around the shop touching and admiring the fabrics and planning what they would like to make with them - their particular favourites are the cupcake fabrics, and the purples, but they also think the fairy princes fabric with tiaras is awesome, so is the blue with the white spots...........They have even examined the threads (the string they call it) and loved the colours of them too. It's a joy to have them here!

Classes for kids

Classes for kids - will be held during the holidays. Thursday 21st February and 28th February.

On the 21st we will have a class to make a Flower from a new quilt designed by Griet Lombard called Summer Garden there are 49 flowers to choose. The finished flower panel can be used as a wall hanging, as the panel for a bag or as a centre for a cushion.

The class on the 28th is called "Ragamals" Griet Lombard has been making Ragamals with her grandchildren and we think it is a creative and original class, suitable for both girls and boys.

New Pattern designed by Jo Kirk

We have called this pattern "Freedom" - Butterflies symbolize innocence, peace and Freedom! Jo made the sample for this quilt - she made it in browns, creams and taupe and added lots of gold stitching - our pattern includes a picture of another quilt that Jo has made which features the butterflies in bright colours. Pattern $25.00

Summer Garden - a new pattern designed by Griet Lombard

We have this quilt hanging on the back wall of the shop and it is the first thing you see as you walk in the door - that's if you keep your eyes to the front and don't get diverted by all the new fabrics that have arrived lately. It's a joy to behold! Although this photo shows the complete Summer Garden we have made up all the patterns individually. There are 49 flowers in the quilt and we have made 49 small patterns - that means you can mix and match your choiice of flowers to make up your Summer Garden.

New Bag Pattern

We have called this pattern Two Bags at Once - Easy - make one for a freind for yourself! It is one of our Easy Peasey patterns and is $10.00. This has been a really popular class with our Wednesdays are for Quilting - it's been just wonderful to see the great combinations of this bag that has been produced.

Fabrics!!

We have had lots and lots of fabric in over the last month or so. We can only put one photo on each segment of this letter so I have put on one photo of a particularly beautiful fabric, but there is not enough room to put the co - ordinates on as well. The fabric is designed by Riley Blake and called "Happier" - there are at least fifteen fabrics that co ordinate with this one - in greens, teals pinks, blues, There are small prints, spots and stripes - perfect for teenage or small girls quilts or clothes. Imagine a cute little skirt made up in this fabric with a striped trim.

Chocolate

We seem to have quite a few fabrics on a foodie theme. This is called "Chocolate" and has co ordinates of browns and beige,

In this photo we the blue and white spot with the red roses . - also available in green and white spot with a red rose and red and white spot with a red rose. Cooridnates are a mixture of spots, and florals.

New Magazines

We have just received Homespun Vol 93 and Quilts Down Under 146 - the latest issues of these two magazines.

More William Morris Applique

More William Morris Applique - a new book by Michelle Hill. Spectacular collections of quilts and accessories for the home. A fantastic collection of patterns - table runners, nursery quilts, cushions and applique quilts. There is a great historical section and also an excellent techniques section.

William Morris Quilt pack

If you would love the look of William Morris, but don't want to work on a large project we have just the quilt for you!. We have called it the "William Morris Quick Quilt" - it is made up with a pack of five inch squares, and three borders and a pattern.. We have used a William Morris fabrics designed by Michelle Hill and have used a really beautiful striped print from her Adelaide Collection for the outside borders and binding.
