Tuesday 17 January - Free Motion Quilting

Free Motion Quiling - In this class we will show you some really good  techniques to master Free Motion Quilting.

You will need you sewing machine and a free motion foot to do this class - you will make a panel of quilting which you can use to make a cushion or bag, or maybe the centre of a quilt. There are lots of myths around about free motion quilting - don't worry - just come with a positive attitude, your sewing machine and your free motion foot and you will be fine.

First Day for the Lampshade class

Now this is a different class for us! Like cushion - lampshades are another way to personalise you home decor.

The first day you will make the fabric for the outside of your lampshade. It will be pieced in a crazy patch style - the piece can be as big or as small as you like.

After it has been pieced we will send it to Joug design - Helen will work her magic on your pieced fabric, cutting it to size - trimming so that it is perfect - and fusing a special laminate on to it, and then send it back to us, for you to finish at the second day of the class

Fee $120.00 - includes both classes and the lampshade..

Wednesday 18 January

Cushions are the ultimate accessory for you home. You can change your whole decor just by adding a few new cushions. In this class we will show you how to make a textured cushion, and make it superb with piping and how to close the back with a zip or with buttons. Our sample has a Prairie edge - this is another way you could finish your cushion

Thursday 19th January

Jill Maas Dolls Faces Class

We are thrilled that Jill is coming to teach this one day class for us at Summer School.

This class will give you a chance to practice faces, you and Jill will spend the day colouring and sculpting each of the three faces you will bring to the class. We have a free pattern sheet of dolls faces that Jill has drawn up for this class - the photo we have here is of the Goth Girls one of Jills' patterns.

Requirements

A hand sewing kit, which will include sharps scissors, strong thread, hand quilting thread and a long thin needle such as a darner #7 (plus your own favourite needles)

You will also need to bring your own sewn and stuffed heads, at least 3 to make the most of the day.

Bring you own pens and pencils for the face details.

You can use any of Jills patterns for your choice of heads (note if the head and body are in one piece, you need to have that stuffed too)

Friday 20 January

Gone to Seed - an original wall hanging by Adrienne Walker.

This is a one day class with Adrienne, where she will show you techniques to make this fabulous 3D wall hanging - so you will learn 3D quilted and wired leaves, and  interesting seed pods, tendrils inside folded leaves and interesting beaded finishings

You will need to purchase Adriennes pattern called "Gone to Seed" for this class.

Fee $30.00 plus pattern

Simply Rouge

There is no class fee for this class, b ut you will need to purchase the pattern book called "Simply Rouge"

This is a hand stitched project - we will be using designs from Simple Rouge by Jackie Nicholls - we have hearts in shop that we have made from her design and we have added our own unique touches.

Saturday 20 January

Quilt in a Day Class

9.00 - 4.00

We have designed a new quilt for this class. We have used a new range of fabric called Ruby - lovely clear colours which we have set with white sashing - very fresh and summery - and modern.

You can use the same colours as we have for our quilt or you can choose your own colours

Fee $150.00 - includes the fabric to make the quilt the same size as ours which we will cut out and have  ready for you to sew. We will provide your lunch for this class

Sunday 22nd and Monday 23rd January

There is no Summer School on these days as we will be closed for Anniversary weekend.

Tuesday 24th January - Kids Class

Arty Farty Hearts Workshop - Kids class

10.00 - 4.00

In this class we will show you how to cut out and fuse hearts to a background and then how to app;lique them i place

or

we will show you how to make your own fabric collage into Hearts on a string.

You can choose!

One day class Fee - $20.00

Wednesday 25 January

Quilted Camera Case, Cell Phone and IPod Cover

There is no charge for this class,but you will need to buy the "Modern Mix Book" which is $45

. We will be using a pattern from a great book called Modern Mix  - it includes instrutions on how to calculate the measurements of your device so that it will be a perfect fit

Essentials  Bag - There is no charge for this class but you will need to buy "Modern Mix" which is $45.

You can choose to make the Essentials Bag or the Quilted Camera case, cell phone or I pod cover on Wednesday 26th January.

Thursday 26th January

Second day of the Lampshade class

Friday 27th January

Make you own labels on the computer

10.00 - 1.00 or 1.00 - 4.00
